The region surrounding Mühlbach, Dienten, Maria Alm and the Hochkönig mountains is part of the beautiful Salzburger Land and has much to offer for nature lovers and everybody else. There are so many ways to spend your time that most visitors come back to us again and again!

Since our chalet is located in the ski area, the lifts are just around the corner; such as the modern six-seater chairlift “Bürgelalm”, which is just a five-minute-walk away.

It’s safe to say that our chalet’s location is definitely a good reason to plan your stay with us: a short stroll of only two minutes will take you to a bakery, stores and restaurants. You really won’t need your car while you’re here. The best thing, however, has to be that while you’re just a stone’s throw from the town centre, Babsi-Alm still offers peace and privacy – we really can’t think of a better location as the home base of your vacation.

The Hochkönig region and Maria Alm are nothing short of heaven for outdoor enthusiasts. If you prefer hiking, rock climbing or mountaineering, you can don’t have to choose here, everything’s possible. Dienten really is the perfect spot for vacation, recreation and just the right amount of adrenaline, if that’s what you’re looking for.

We can’t think of a better location than ours here at Babsi-Alm: in summer, you’ll find yourself surrounded by lush green meadows and woods inviting you to explore the area on foot; in winter, when everything is covered in glistening white snow, the chalet is adjacent to the runs of the Hochkönig ski area. There aren’t many places that offer majestic views, great skiing and a variety of modern and rustic mountain huts for your lunch break alike. It’s a unique combination that wins over kids as well as adults!

During your ski trip you’ll be able to discover a total of 120 km of perfectly prepared slopes and runs which connect the villages of Maria Alm, Dienten and Mühlbach. With 33 lifts to choose from, it’s guaranteed that every day of skiing will be a new adventure. A great way to explore the entire ski area is the Königstour, which encompasses six peaks and 35 km of slopes and breath-taking views of the Hochkönig. It’s definitely a tour that won’t disappoint.

Perfect home base for skiing, hiking or sunbathing

Our apartments are located in the heart of Dienten, right within the ski area, making them the perfect home base for whatever you like to do: skiing, hiking or sunbathing. At an altitude of 1,7071 metres above sea level, you have everything you need from ski rentals to ski schools within walking distance. You really won’t need your car at all, even if you prefer to do something else than skiing: snowshoeing, for example, is a fantastic way to really take in the beautiful scenery.

Or you rent a sledge and go on an exhilarating ride down the illuminated sledge run at night! It’s an adventure for the entire family.

Kitzsteinhorn is also well worth a visit. There, you can try out your skis or snowboard on glacier snow … all year round!

And if you want to mix things up and enrich your trip with a little culture, the city of Salzburg is only about 45 minutes away. It’s a place steeped in history where you can enjoy culinary specialties as well as a rich culture: the city of Mozart is the epitome of classical music and home to many museums.

For some culture that’s “closer to home”, we recommend visiting the fully-restored flower houses in Dienten or the parish church of St. Nicholas. Many people know the church of St. Nicholas because of its special location on the hill Kirchbühel, right in front of the massive Hochkönig, making for a truly impressive sight.

Indulging in the culinary specialties of Austrian cuisine

Trying the traditional food of the country you’re spending your holidays in is an integral part of traveling, so it comes in handy that our Chalet Babsi-Alm is within walking distance of a variety of Austrian restaurants serving local specialties. Try the world-renowned Wiener Schnitzel or, if you have a sweet tooth, classics such as Kaiserschmarrn or Salzburger Nockerl. Whatever you choose, you’re in for a treat.

There’s also a great pizza place very close to Babsi-Alm, or you can make use of the fully-equipped kitchen in your boutique apartment. You’ll find everything you need for a home-cooked meal and your morning coffee in the supermarket close by.

What would your holiday be without a single night out? Luckily, you don’t have to find out if you’re staying in Dienten: a short walk will bring you to the local bar, the perfect place to enjoy a drink after a great day of outdoor fun.
